We will operate where we can support both the UN Climate and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in doing this:
1) We will cut global emissions by displacement.
2) Ensure we are carbon neutral in our conduct of these operations.
3) Fund the planting of trees, but not just any trees…
This takes us beyond carbon neutral: it’s our commitment to being neutral footprint+.
The tree we will be funding is a special tree. Mangrove forests capture 5 times more CO2 than rainforests. They filter and clean water which helps protect ecosystems such as seagrass and coral reefs, and allow for the increase of seafood production by up to 50%. They also help protect vulnerable coastal communities from extreme weather like tsunamis and cyclones.
Despite this, mangrove forests are disappearing three times faster that rainforests.
Restoring mangrove forests supports many of the Social Development Goals (SDGs) signed up to by all UN member states in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030 in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Ecofriend World are working to plant 1 billion mangrove trees, with environmental luminaries such as Dr Jane Goodall and Dr Sylvia Earle as ambassadors.
Oceanic Fuel Solutions will proactively support the work of Ecofriend World through specific projects with direct donations, with the founder of Ecofriend World on the Board of Oceanic Fuel Solutions.
